GOAL
Cyprus Turkish Petroleum carries out its activities in accordance with high safety standards and shows a special sensitivity to the environment. Therefore, it aims to minimize risk in all its fields of activity. Our company also aims to ensure that the workplace is healthy and productive. All employees are expected to act in accordance with the above-mentioned objectives and share the same concerns.

METHOD
Alcohol, drugs and smoking habits not only affect performance in the workplace, but also create serious dangers in terms of Technical Safety, Environment, Health and productivity. The habit that has gained continuity negatively affects the health of the person. The company wants all employees to be aware of this danger and aims to minimize the risks in this respect. In order to achieve this, the following principles have been put into practice:

BEING AT THE WORKPLACE WHILE UNDER THE EFFECT OF DRUGS OR ALCOHOL:

It is unacceptable for the company, contractor employees, tanker drivers and visitors to be in the workplace while under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

DRUG USE, OWNERSHIP AND SALE:

The use, possession, distribution or sale of drugs of any kind is strictly prohibited on company premises or during company business.

INDIVIDUAL ALCOHOL AND DRUG CONTROLS:

In the workplace of the company, upon strong suspicion and the request of the department manager, drug and alcohol control can be carried out individually by obtaining the consent of the individual. The execution of this control is absolutely dependent on the consent of the employee.

SANCTION OF DRIVING WITH ALCOHOL:

The company will impose a disciplinary sanction on those who have been tested by the police for alcohol and whose alcohol level is higher than the legal limit (500 ppm alcohol in the blood). Professional drivers of the company and contractor personnel are prohibited from driving while under the influence of alcohol. “Being under the influence of alcohol” will be evaluated according to the criteria specified in the Traffic Law.

CRITERIAS THAT CAN CAUSE PEOPLE TO BE TESTED:

The company may request that a company employee who has any of the following qualifications be subjected to alcohol or drug test and psychological testings.

  • Working in a safety or security-related or environmentally critical position
  • Working in a managerial position
  • Working in a position where the law requires alcohol and drug testing
  • Having a pre-existing addiction problem

In all of these cases, the employee must consent to the testing.

If the test is positive, the employee is encouraged to seek addiction treatment. Those who are convinced to receive treatment are temporarily removed from the above-mentioned duties and assigned to more passive tasks, provided that they are brought back to that position when the treatment is completed, or they are deemed to be on paid leave during the treatment. This leave cannot be deducted from annual paid leave.

SMOKING

Personnel who detects another personnel smoking informs the supervisor of the personnel who was smoking and the Trade and Administrative Affairs Manager in writing.

This prohibition covers guests, contractors and all visitors visiting the workplace.

DISCIPLINARY SANCTION:

Those who come to the workplace under the influence of alcohol or drugs and who drive in this situation, even after they have been detected as addicted to alcohol or drugs after examination and encouraged for treatment, are given disciplinary punishments, ranging from a written warning to a dismissal with criminal record, depending on the severity of the situation.

EVALUATION OF TEST AND TREATMENT RESULTS:

8.1. The results of the test and treatment performed with the consent of the personnel will be evaluated only by the specialist doctor and the results will be conveyed to the responsible Department Manager, Trade and Administrative Affairs Manager and General Manager.

8.2. Testing, test results, diagnosis and treatment processes related to alcohol and drugs will be kept completely confidential from third parties other than those listed in 8.1.
